This course complies with the Norwegian Maritime Authority’s Circular 7-23 – Guidelines on requirements for training in chemical energy storage on board Norwegian ships. You can read the circular here: Norwegian Maritime Authority Circular 7-23. Upon course completion, participants will receive a certificate that meets the requirements outlined in the circular.

  • Members of safety plans on board, including fire and smoke diving teams.
  • Key personnel from the shore organization responsible for risk management and safety.

OComp experience

Since 2020, OComp has trained nearly 3,000 seafarers from over 10 countries, including crews on ferries, high-speed boats, and supply vessels, on how to handle a lithium-ion battery fire on a ship. Participants have come from some of Norway’s largest shipping companies as well as some of the world’s largest international shipping companies, in addition to fire departments along the entire Norwegian coast.

Practical Information

The course lasts one day and combines theory with practical exercises. After completing the course, participants will receive a certificate documenting training in accordance with the Norwegian Maritime Authority’s requirements. Before the course, participants will have access to e-learning that provides a basic introduction to the subject. Participants retain access to the e-learning after the course is completed.
