Basic H2S training
Objective
The course provides knowledge about the hazards of hydrogen sulfide and sulfur dioxide, symptoms of poisoning and knowledge of life-saving first aid. Course participants will learn how to take care of themselves and others by proper use of protective equipment.
After completing the course, participants can work in H2S-exposed areas.
Target group
The course is suitable for personnel who work in areas where H2S may occur.
Course content
- Hazards, features and characteristics of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and sulfur dioxide (SO2)
- Sources of H2S and SO2
- Proper use of detection equipment
- Symptoms of exposure
- Search and rescue techniques and first aid to victims of H2S and SO2 exposure
- Proper use and maintenance of respirators: Theory, demonstration and practice
- Knowledge of wind direction and evacuation
- Procedures for entering enclosed spaces
- Limits for H2S and SO2
